October 21: Design a Quotecreative exercises
Everyone has a few inspirational mantras that serve as a perk-me-up when things start to drag. Combine one of those messages with great imagery or using beautiful typography and create a social media background image or desktop wallpaper. (These designs are really popular on social media and many of them are not visually pleasing; find one you hate and make it better.)

  1. Find an inspirational quote.
  2. Add a background image, texture or favorite color.
  3. Typeset using a typeface you’ve been wanting to use or create custom lettering by hand.
  4. You can create this in any program you have available on your chromebook or online - remember to save as JPEG and post to your blog

October 22: Sketch out Your Day
Sketching is one of the best tools a designer can have in their kit. You don’t have to have the ability to draw. A sketch is your outline. Sketching can help you get ideas into a visual format quickly and even communicate more clearly with others.
  1. Grab a pencil and paper.
  2. Sketch out three things that have impacted you today.
  3. If you are struggling with sketching your day, pick three objects on your desk and sketch those instead.
  4. Post to your Blog!

October 23: Design a Watch Face
Wearables are one of the big trends in design. Whether you own a wearable device or are working on an app for one, step back and create your own watch face. If you would wear anything on your wrist that you wanted, what would it look like?
  1. Sketch a watch face.
  2. Think about features of the design and the user interface or experience.
  3. What does your design do that current devices do not? What can you do to change that?
  4. Post to your blog!

October 24: Merge 2 unrelated Items
Stretching your creative muscles often involves doing things you wouldn’t do on a regular basis. Most of us only use a limited part of some of the design tools at our disposal.
  1. Grab two images.
  2. Merge them. Swap the heads. Flop the backgrounds.
  3. Create something totally fantastical, or so real that it is totally creepy.
  4. You can use a pencil and draw by hand or any application you have on your chromebook or computer at home.
  5. You will need to post the 2 original photos as a before.

Oct 2nd: Morning Capture- In the morning, take a picture of something or someone around you.

Make a mental note of why you photographed the subject. What caught your attention? Then, examine the image. Identify one element or aspect of that image that strikes you. It can be anything—an object in the frame, a color, a texture, a mood. What sparks your curiosity? This is the kernel of inspiration for the next picture you’ll take in this short series.

Write down and complete this sentence: In my next picture, I’m curious about exploring ______.
and post on your blog.

Oct 3rd: Write a Haiku
Take 5 minutes to write a haiku (Japanese style 3 line poem with a 5-7-5 syllable structure) about your day or night and post on your blog.
